LJTY Privacy Policy
Last updated: 27 October 2026
This policy explains what happens to your data when you use the LJTY: Animated Bible app for iPhone ("the app") and the website ljtybible.com ("the website"). The short version: LJTY has no accounts, no ads, no analytics and no tracking. What you do in the app stays on your iPhone.
1. Who is responsible
Noah Curic
c/o POSTFLEX PFX-643-139
Emsdettener Strasse 10
48268 Greven
Germany
Email: support@ljtybible.com
This is the controller under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). There is no data protection officer, because none is required.
2. What stays on your iPhone
The app saves your progress only on your iPhone, in the app's own storage. We cannot see it, and it is never sent to us. This includes:
- highlights, notes and saved verses
- your streak, active days, freezes and rewards
- where you stopped reading, finished chapters, watched videos
- quiz scores, Memorize progress, plans, journeys, The Story and characters you unlocked
- your answers in the welcome questions (for example your goal and how often you read the Bible)
- your first name, if you type one so the daily hello can greet you (change or remove it in Me > Your name)
- your "How are you feeling?" pick for the day
- your settings (text size, appearance, reminder time, voice and speed for Listen)
- whether Premium is on and, for the yearly plan, when your free week ends
If you type your name, it stays on your iPhone and is never sent anywhere.
If iCloud Backup or a computer backup is turned on for your iPhone, Apple includes this data in your backup under Apple's own privacy terms. Deleting the app deletes this data from your iPhone.
Reading aloud with an iPhone voice uses the voices built into iOS on your device.
3. Reminders
Daily reminders and the reminder before your free week ends are local notifications. They are scheduled on your iPhone and do not go through any server. You can turn them off in the app (Me) or in the iPhone Settings.
4. Videos and Bible audio
Videos and Bible audio are streamed from our media host Cloudflare, Inc., 101 Townsend St, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA (Cloudflare R2). To deliver a file, the host necessarily receives your IP address, the file requested, the time and technical details such as the app version and device type. The host processes this on our behalf under a data processing agreement and keeps server logs only for a short time for security and delivery. We do not use these logs to identify you or build profiles.
Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (our legitimate interest in delivering the content you ask for, safely). Transfer to the USA: Cloudflare is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework; the EU standard contractual clauses in its data processing agreement also apply.
5. App updates
To get small fixes without a new App Store version, the app checks for updates with Expo (650 Industries, Inc., USA, "EAS Update") when it opens. This sends your IP address, the app version, the platform and technical identifiers needed to deliver the right update. Expo processes this on our behalf under a data processing agreement.
Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (keeping the app working and secure). Transfer to the USA: EU-US Data Privacy Framework (Expo is certified under it).
6. Purchases and subscriptions
Subscriptions (Monthly, Yearly with a 7-day free trial) and the Lifetime purchase are sold and billed by Apple through the App Store. Apple handles your payment details; we never receive them. Apple's privacy policy applies: https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/
To check whether Premium is active, the app uses RevenueCat, Inc. (USA). RevenueCat receives a random app user ID (not your name or Apple ID), your purchase and subscription history from Apple, the app version, device type, country and IP address. RevenueCat processes this on our behalf under a data processing agreement. Transfer to the USA: the EU standard contractual clauses in RevenueCat's data processing agreement.
Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (providing the Premium features you bought).
7. App Store, ratings and sharing
- Apple may give us anonymous, combined statistics (for example downloads, crashes, country) if you agreed to share them with app developers in your iPhone settings. We cannot link these to you.
- When the app asks for a rating, Apple shows its own rating window; we do not see who rated.
- When you share a video or verse, the iPhone share menu opens and you choose where it goes. The app does not receive anything back.
8. When you write to us
If you email support@ljtybible.com, we use your email address, your message and anything you attach to answer you. We delete the conversation when it is finished, unless we must keep it by law.
Your email passes through two providers:
- Cloudflare Email Routing (Cloudflare, Inc., 101 Townsend St, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA) receives emails sent to our address and forwards them to our mailbox. Cloudflare does this on our behalf under its data processing agreement and only to deliver the email.
- Gmail (Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland, with Google LLC, USA) is our mailbox: your email is stored there, and we read and answer it from there.
Transfer to the USA: Cloudflare, Inc. and Google LLC are certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework (Art. 45 GDPR).
Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR if your email is about the app or a purchase, otherwise Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (our legitimate interest in answering you).
9. The website
Server logs. When you visit ljtybible.com, our host Cloudflare, Inc. (Cloudflare Pages) receives your IP address, the page, the time, your browser and the page you came from. This is needed to show the website and keep it secure. Cloudflare keeps these logs only for a limited time. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR.
Waitlist. If you join the waitlist, we save your email address, the date and time you joined and which version of the consent text you agreed to. Nothing else is stored with it: no name, no IP address, no cookie. We only use your address to tell you when LJTY launches and about LJTY news. You can leave at any time with the link in each email or by writing to us; we then delete your address. The waitlist is only for people aged 16 and over. It is stored on our behalf by Cloudflare, Inc., 101 Townsend St, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA (Cloudflare D1). Transfer to the USA: Cloudflare is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework; the EU standard contractual clauses in its data processing agreement also apply. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR (your consent), which you can withdraw at any time.
10. Our social media profiles
We share LJTY videos as @lordjesusthankyou on Instagram, TikTok, X and YouTube. These platforms are run by their operators, not by us. When you visit our profiles, the platform processes your data, for example your IP address, device details, cookies or similar IDs, and what you watch and do, also if you have no account or are not logged in. The platforms may use this for their own purposes, such as statistics, ads and building profiles, and may transfer it to countries outside the EU, including the USA. We cannot control or switch off this processing. The details are in each platform's privacy policy, linked below.
What we see and do. We see what you share with us publicly or send us on the platform: your user name and profile picture, comments, likes, mentions and messages. We use this only to answer you and to talk about LJTY. The platforms also give us statistics about our profiles, for example views, reach, followers and their age range or country. For us these are combined and anonymous: we cannot see who is behind them. We use them to learn which videos help people. We do not copy your data out of the platforms and do not combine it with other data.
Legal basis. Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR: our legitimate interest in telling people about LJTY and talking with those who are interested. Where a platform asks for your consent, for example for cookies, it does so for itself under Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR.
Joint controllers. For the profile statistics of Instagram and TikTok, we and the platform are joint controllers under Art. 26 GDPR. In the agreements linked below, the platform takes on the main responsibility for this processing, including informing you and answering your requests about it. You can use your rights (sections 13 and 14) with us or with the platform. Because only the platform has access to this data, a request is answered fastest by the platform itself; if you write to us, we pass it on.
- Instagram: Meta Platforms Ireland Limited, Merrion Road, Dublin 4, D04 X2K5, Ireland. Privacy policy: https://privacycenter.instagram.com/policy/. Joint controllership for the statistics (Insights): https://www.facebook.com/legal/terms/page_controller_addendum, with the information on Insights data at https://www.facebook.com/legal/terms/information_about_page_insights_data. Meta Platforms, Inc. (USA) is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.
- TikTok: TikTok Technology Limited, 10 Earlsfort Terrace, Dublin, D02 T380, Ireland. Privacy policy: https://www.tiktok.com/legal/page/eea/privacy-policy/en. Joint controllership for TikTok Analytics: https://www.tiktok.com/legal/page/global/tiktok-analytics-joint-controller-addendum/en. TikTok also transfers data to countries outside the EU that have no EU adequacy decision; it names standard contractual clauses (Art. 46 GDPR) as the safeguard.
- X: X Internet Unlimited Company, Dublin, Ireland. Privacy policy: https://x.com/en/privacy.
- YouTube: Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland. Privacy policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy. Google LLC (USA) is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.
11. Who receives data
Only the service providers named above, each only for its task. Where a provider works on our behalf, a data processing agreement applies. Google (Gmail, section 8) and the social media platforms (section 10) also process data under their own terms. We do not sell data, do not show ads and do not share data with advertisers or data brokers.
12. How long we keep data
Data on your iPhone stays until you delete it or the app. Server logs are kept only as long as named above. Waitlist emails until you leave the list or LJTY stops sending news. Support emails until the request is finished, unless the law requires longer. Comments and messages on our social media profiles stay on the platform until you or we delete them.
13. Your rights
You have the right to access (Art. 15 GDPR), correction (Art. 16), deletion (Art. 17), restriction (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20) and to object (Art. 21, see section 14 below). If you gave consent, you can withdraw it at any time with effect for the future (Art. 7(3)). Write to support@ljtybible.com.
Because we do not have an account for you and the app keeps your progress only on your iPhone, we usually hold no personal data about you that we could show or delete. You can delete everything in the app by deleting the app.
You also have the right to complain to a data protection authority, for example the one where you live or the one responsible for us: Landesbeauftragte für Datenschutz und Informationsfreiheit Nordrhein-Westfalen (LDI NRW), Kavalleriestrasse 2-4, 40213 Düsseldorf, Germany, https://www.ldi.nrw.de.
14. Your right to object (Art. 21 GDPR)
You have the right to object at any time, on grounds relating to your particular situation, to the processing of your personal data that we base on our legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
This applies to delivering videos and Bible audio (section 4), app updates (section 5), answering your emails where section 8 names our legitimate interest, the website server logs (section 9) and our social media profiles (section 10).
If you object, we stop this processing unless we can show compelling legitimate grounds that override your interests, rights and freedoms, or the processing is needed to establish, exercise or defend legal claims. Please note that the app cannot stream videos or audio and the website cannot be shown without this processing; in that case the only way to stop it completely is to stop using the app or the website.
To object, simply write to support@ljtybible.com. No form or reason in a set format is needed.
15. Children
LJTY has no accounts and collects no personal data inside the app, so families can use it together. The website waitlist is only for people aged 16 and over.
16. No automated decisions
We do not make decisions about you based solely on automated processing, and we do not profile you.
17. Changes
If the app or the law changes, we update this policy and the date at the top. The current version is always at https://ljtybible.com/privacy.
